Loretta "Ruth" (Carder) Lowe Headley

Loretta “Ruth” Carder Lowe Headley, 85, of Jarvisville Community passed away on Friday, March 15, 2024 at her residence with family by her side. Ruth as she was known by family and friends, was born December 10, 1938 in Cox Mills, Gilmer County, daughter of the late James Denzil and Catherine Elizabeth Vincent Carder.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Edmund W. “Bub” Lowe on March 15, 1979. They were married on June 9, 1958. She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter, Cassie Lowe; her siblings, Junior Carder, Ella Lowe, Richard Carder, Helen McIntyre, Chuck Carder, Winnie Poore, Bill Carder, Harold Carder; and stepson, Donnie Headley.

She married Harlen J. Headley on July 24, 1982 who survives. Also, she is survived by her four children, Kim (Chet) Wilsoncroft, Weston, Cathy (Jeff) Hileman, West Milford, Edmund “Bubby”(Tammy) Lowe, Clarksburg, Gary (Michele) Lowe, Bristol; eleven grandchildren, Thomas (Dorina) Wilsoncroft, Troy Wilsoncroft and Mandy, Justin and Abby Hileman, Jesse (Dora) Lowe, Rachel (Chad) Chipps, James Lowe and Kisha,  Anna (T.J.) McCarty, Amber (Ernie) Isenhart, Gary (Kylie) Lowe, and Sara Lowe; thirteen great grandchildren; one brother, Roger Carder; one sister, Mary June Jones. When Ruth and Harlen married, Ruth welcomed the addition of Harlen’s children, Brenda (Dwayne) Dierkes, Cathy (Chuck) Graham, J.D. Headley and Sheila Currie, along with all the grandchildren and great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruth was a stay at home wife and mother. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends.  She always had time for grandchildren, spending endless time walking in the woods, fishing in the pond, swinging them in the tree swing.

Ruth was a Christian and faithfully attended services at the Salem Church of Christ.  

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home - Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 from 3-7PM and on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 from 9:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 11:00 AM with Albert Farley officiating.  Interment will follow at Jarvisville Baptist Cemetery.
