Tracie Davis Obituary

Tracie Lee Davis, 53 of Salem, WV, went to be with her heavenly family on March 26th, 2024. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by her closest loved ones.

Tracie was born on December 15, 1970 in Waterbury, CT., but spent most of her life in West Virginia. She was a 1989 graduate of Liberty High School, and spent her career caring for others as a PCA at United Hospital Center. Tracie married the love of her life, Stan Lee Davis, on September 25, 1993. Together they adopted 2 dogs, Bailee and Bentlee, who lit up her days.

Tracie was preceded in death by her mother Pam Taber (Nee Cain) of Salem, WV., whom she devotedly cared for late in life. She was lucky enough to have 3 men to claim her as their daughter. She was raised and survived by Al Taber of Salem, WV., and is survived by siblings Michael Taber and Nicholas Taber, both of Salem, WV.

Tracie was also raised and is survived by Bobby Hyatt of Leicester, NC., and survived by siblings Ann Howell, Crystal Jones and Jeanie Cucumber-Hyatt, all of Asheville, NC. She was preceded in death by sister, Cathy Derrick. In addition to her siblings of Asheville, Tracie is survived by John “Jay” Grothe of North Carolina, Laura Blake of Las Vegas, NV., and Kelly Hyatt of Clarksburg, WV.

She is preceded in death by her father Butch Caviasca, of Waterbury, CT., and is survived by siblings Tracie Caviasca, Stephanie Gonzalez (Nee Caviasca) and Dennis Caviasca, also originally of Waterbury, CT.

She was a proud and loving aunt to 27 beloved nieces and nephews. Her family would also like to give a special mention of friends “Big Joe” Fragmin and Marsha Davis, both of Salem, WV.

Tracie was well loved in her life, and was often described as “one-of-a-kind”. She was a vivacious woman who enjoyed going to the beach, playing Texas Hold ‘em (“All-the-way-Tray”), crafting, scrapbooking, photography, thrift shopping, the Atlanta Braves (Chipper Jones!), spending time with her family, holiday celebrations, midnight snacks (especially peanut butter cups), and watching movies with Stan, her best friend and husband. Tracie was a nurturing soul who was the first to volunteer to babysit her nieces and nephews. Amongst them, she earned a reputation for making the best chocolate milk.
