Viki Johnson Obituary

Viki Sue Johnson, 72, of Big Battle community in Doddridge County, West Virginia, departed to be with her Savior Jesus on April 16, 2024, following her courageous fight against pancreatic cancer. Viki was able to remain at her home as were her wishes, and she received loving care the last month of her life from her two sons, caring husband, and loving sister Anita Rosser.

Viki is survived by her dear husband James D. Johnson of 50 years, her sons Jason Johnson and Chris Johnson and his partner Joe Laurita, her brothers Craig Kellar and his wife Beth, J. C. Kellar and his wife Jennifer Sharp, Robert Kellar and his wife Nancy, Bill Kellar and his wife Michelle, Brian Kellar and his partner Tom Hanley, her sisters Anita Rosser and Lisa Kellar, several beloved nieces and nephews, and, lastly, her “Grandfur” Babies Gracie and Boo Boo.  Viki was fortunate to be a Nonny to Landon and Hadley Coberly and was a loving Great Aunt to Kadence and Sunshine Moore.  She was grateful to treat all four of them as her own grandchildren. Viki had a special bond with her nieces Courtney Coberly and Stacey Moore and nephew David Johnson.

At the center of Viki’s life was Welcome Baptist Church where she served as leader in various ways including vacation bible school director, Sunday school teacher, choir member, music director, and church clerk over the years.  Most importantly, she cared for others and did many acts of kindness to those in need.  Viki showed her love for others by sharing her wonderful country cooking with friends and family.

Viki had a career early in her life as a respiratory technician at the United Hospital Center.  Later, she began her calling as a teacher’s aide for Doddridge Schools.  Her favorite position was working in the Pre-K position with Charlotte Ferguson.

Viki enjoyed her life in many ways.  She loved thrift shopping, yard sales, and auctions with her friends and family.  She also had a passion for working in the creek moving rocks or weed eating on her farm with her husband.  Viki shared her love for nature including flowers, trees, and birds with her children.  Meteor showers were a favorite past time, and she also loved watching it snow in hopes of a snow day to spend with her twin boys.

Viki was preceded in death by her parents Doyle McClellan and Eva Marie Kellar, her older brother Doyle M. Kellar, her maternal grandparents Mason and Alfreda Kerns, and her paternal grandparents Clair and Zella Kellar.

Viki was a loving wife, mother, and sister. She was a kind soul loved by many; she will be truly missed.
