B. Joan Kimball Benedum

B. Joan Kimball Benedum, 73 of Salem departed this life on Monday, October 27, 2014 in the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport after a two and half year battle with cancer. She was born at Canton, Doddridge County on February 1, 1941 a daughter of the late Frank and Nellie Wilcox Kimball. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Lyle Benedum.

Also surviving is one daughter Marcia Mires and husband David, Salem, three sons, Michael Benedum, Salem, Martin Benedum, Bluefield, Mark Benedum and wife Sabrina, Salem, one granddaughter, Kelsea Benedum, six grandsons, Travis Evans and wife Victoria, Nicholas Mires, Brett, Tyler, Bryce and Brock Benedum, one great granddaughter, London Evans, one sister, Avis Harless, Mt. Pleasant, MI, one sister-in-law, Deloris Kimball, Montana, several nieces and nephews. One brother, William J. "Jack" Kimball preceded her in death.

Mrs. Benedum was a 1959 graduate of Doddridge County High School. She was a former employee of Westinghouse Electric, Fairmont. Joan was a lifetime member of Bristol United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and served on the Administrative Board.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Friday, October 31, 2014 at 11:00AM with Pastor Carl Radcliff, Pastor Danny Fleming and Pastor Etheldean Yanero presiding. Interment will follow in the Salem I.O.O.F. Memorial Park, Salem. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, October 30, 2014 from 4-8PM.
