Betty Jane (Underwood) Brookover

Betty Jane Underwood Brookover, 84 of West Union passed away on Friday, March 31, 2023 at United Hospital Center.

Betty was born July 28, 1938 in West Union, daughter of the late Gloah Everett and Icie Lee Orr Underwood.  

Betty worked at the Cottage Corner in West Union for many years.  She was a member of the Elk Lick Church of God. Betty enjoyed doing word search puzzles, reading the bible, collecting hummingbirds and anything Elvis.     

Betty is survived by her two daughters, Linda Faith Bunting and Dwayne, West Union and Michele Hope Luckett, Ashland, KY; three stepchildren, Terry Eugene Brookover and Diane, Orrville, OH, Jerry Lynn Brookover and Robin, Charleston, WV, Janet Burkhamer and Alan, SC; three grandchildren, John Bunting, Hannah Luckett and Hayden Thomas; one great granddaughter, Lillian Jane Bunting; five step grandchildren, Timothy Brookover and Susie, Brian Brookover, Gregory Brookover and Cheryl, Travis Brookover and Lori, Brad Burkhamer and Sarah;  eight step great grandchildren and one step great great grandchild; two siblings, Paulette Bonnell and Bill, West Union, Leon Underwood and Barbara, Painesville, OH; numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her husband, Chester Eugene Brookover; one grandson, Michael Alan Bunting; one great grandson, John Carter Lacher Bunting; siblings, Wanda Carioti, Mae McFarren, Kathryn Underwood, Judy Underwood, Edward Underwood, Harold Underwood, Lester Underwood, and Brooks Dwayne Underwood.  

The girls request in honor of their mother, to wear purple on the day of the service, her favorite color. Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home - Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Thursday, April 6, 2023 from 3-7PM and on Friday, April, 7, 2023 from 9:00 am until the time of the Funeral Service at 10:00 am with Pastor Harley Jeffries officiating.  Interment will follow at Shirley Cemetery.
