Betty Sue Burr, 89 of Tarklin Rd., Salem departed this life in Tuesday, August 27, 2013 in her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 17, 1924 in Jacobs Run, Salem a daughter of the late Walter and Wilma Burr Flanigan. On May 31, 1941 she married Glenn A. Burr who preceded her in death on June 21, 1992.
Surviving are three daughters, Sheila Kay Kimball and husband David, Sue Alkire and husband Bud, Judy Shaffer, two sons, Ronald Burr and wife Katherine, Glenn "Eddie" Burr and wife Naomi, all of Salem, grandchildren, Dwayne Kelley and companion Pam, Rikki Kimball and wife Sandra, Melinda Holden and husband Randall, Carl Alkire, Cary Alkire and companion Candice, Sueann Stull and husband Dennis, Joey Shaffer and wife Annie, R.G. Shaffer and wife Roni, Angela Gibbs, Renee Childers and husband Jon, Wendy Costa and husband Kenny, 25 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter, two sisters, Katy Lou Stalnaker, Weston, Jerry Stover and husband Charlie, Salem, two brothers, Walter Flanigan Jr. and wife Roberta, West Milford, Don Flanigan, Salem, and several nieces and nephews. One son-in-law Richard Shaffer, three grandsons, Brian Kelley, Randy Burr, Jason Alkire, one great grandson, Roy Todd Kelley, one brother-in-law, Charles Stalnaker, two sisters-in-law, Marie and Betty Flanigan preceded her in death.
Mrs. Burr enjoyed spending time with her family especially the Sunday evening meals. She enjoyed crafts, crocheting, sewing and painting. She was a member of the Cascara United Methodist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem on Friday, August 30, 2013 at 11AM with Pastor Robert Metz. Interment will follow in the Christian Church Cemetery, Center Point. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 2-8PM.
