Bradley "Brad" Steven Boyd

Bradley Steven “Brad” Boyd, 65, of Salem, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 24, 2026, with his loving family by his side.

He was born on July 8, 1961, in Steubenville, Ohio, the son of Margaret Thompson Boyd Kennedy and her husband, Brent, and the late Denver Clay Boyd.

Brad was a 1979 graduate of Liberty High School. He was a hardworking man whose strong work ethic defined much of his life. He spent several years as a skilled welder with Ingersoll Rand before continuing his career as coal miner at Blacksville No. 2 Mine. No matter where he worked, Brad believed in earning an honest living and took great pride in providing for those he loved. His greatest accomplishment was not found in his career, but in the family, he worked so faithfully to support and care for.

Outside of work, Brad found peace and happiness in the outdoors. He enjoyed wood carving, hunting, fishing, and riding motorcycles, embracing every opportunity to enjoy God's creation. He attended Open Door Tabernacle Church in Salem. 

Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife of nearly 40 years, Donna Elaine Hill Boyd, whom he married on August 22, 1986; his son, Rev. Eugene Donald Hill (Shannon) of Monroe, Indiana; five beloved grandchildren, Tarrin, Chanz (Caitlyn), Gage, Josiah, and Jesalyn; four precious great-grandchildren, Isaac, Honey; Alex and Israel: his mother, Margaret Thompson Boyd Kennedy, and stepfather, Brent; siblings, Mike Sweat (Trish), Pam Sweat, and Vicky Kopa; his stepmother, Violet Boyd of Weirton, West Virginia; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Judy Hayhurst (Donnie), Barbara Hayhurst (Sammy), Fannie Brinkley (Duane), and Denise Thomas; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who will miss him dearly.

In addition to his father, Brad was preceded in death by his brother, William “Bill” Boyd, and Bill's companion, Donna Arbogast.

Family and friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home – Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, WV, on Saturday, August 1, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and again on Sunday, August 2, 2026, from 12:00 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Randy Plaugher officiating. Interment will follow at Salem I.O.O.F. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his Care Fund on his memorial page.
