Burley Myers Obituary

Burley Kay Myers Sr. 74 of Phoenix Hollow, Reynoldsville departed this life on Thursday, December 31, 2015 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on March 13, 1941 in Jarvisville a son of the late Burl Jefferson and Goldie Gay Hughes Myers.

Surviving are two sons, Burley Kay "Bud" Myers Jr. and wife Brenda, Reynoldsville, Donald Wayne Myers and wife Esther, Reynoldsville, one daughter, Tammy Starkey and partner Joshua Campbell, Reynoldsville, eight grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren, two sisters, Jacqueline McIntyre and husband Cecil, Salem and Betty Welch, Salem. He lived with his grandson Donni and his wife Heather Myers and their children, Donald, Drake and Dean. His grandsons, Dereck and Brad and granddaughters Samantha, Courtney, Janelle and Cheyenne will always love and miss him. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Gregory Starkey, one great granddaughter, Faith Starkey and one sister, Sylvia Thornhill.

Kay worked as a glass worker, logger, oil field worker, carpenter, built furniture and prided himself as a jack of all trades. He was always the first one to offer a helping hand and loved helping and talking to people. In the summer Kay would help at his son's greenhouses and enjoyed seeing everyone who would drop by. He spent hours with his grandchildren and great grandchildren teaching them good work ethics and Christian values. He attended Holy Trinity Chapel and Wolf Summit Wesleyan Methodist Church. He was a beloved father, grandfather and friend.

At his request there will be no services. A memorial dinner will be held at the convenience of the family. Harbert Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Myers family.
