C. Mondell Edwards Obituary

C. Mondell Edwards, 93, of Salem, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at River Oaks Health Care Center.

She was born on September 21, 1932, in Doddridge County, a daughter of the late Arbie Dale and Gladys Morlean Gregg Swisher. Mondell graduated from Doddridge County High School with the Class of 1951. For several years, she worked as a waitress at several restaurants in Salem, where her warm and friendly nature touched the lives of many.

Mondell was a lifetime member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Salem VFW Post 9151 and a devoted member of Salem Baptist Church. Her faith, kindness, and dedication to her community were important parts of her life. Above all, Mondell treasured her family, and the love and memories they shared will remain in their hearts forever.

Her true love and passion was quilting, a gift she poured her heart, creativity, and countless hours into. Each quilt she created was more than fabric and thread—it was a reflection of her patience, talent, and the love she placed into every stitch. Her beautiful quilts were proudly displayed and treasured by many, with her work finding homes throughout the United States and even internationally. Through the many quilts she leaves behind, a piece of her creativity, warmth, and loving spirit will continue to comfort others for generations to come.

On November 27, 1952, Mondell married the love of her life, Willard D. Edwards. Together, they built a life filled with love, devotion, and cherished family memories until his passing on February 18, 1993.

Mondell is survived by her four children, Connie Morris of Clarksburg, Valerie Edwards of Salem, Danny Edwards of Salem and Jeff Edwards (Angela) of Lake Floyd; seven grandchildren, Mike Edwards, Tyler Morris (Chelsea), Brian Edwards, Jason Edwards, Samara Edwards (Matthew Keenan), Dylan Edwards, Marissa Edwards and Kiara Rose; nine great-grandchildren, Laney, Alyssa, Colin, Kylie, Deshealynn, Marley, Blake, Camilla, and River; two great great grandchildren, Wade and Elise; and one sister, Carol Boyce of West Union. Each of them was a treasured part of her life and brought her great joy.

In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Mondell was preceded in death by her sons, Rick Edwards and Jim Edwards; granddaughter, Stephanie Edwards; great grandson, Psalm. Though her family takes comfort in knowing she has been reunited with those she loved, her gentle presence and the many wonderful memories she created will be deeply missed.
