Carlton D. Davis 87 of Gawthrop Lane, Harmony Valley, Clarksburg departed this life on Tuesday December 20, 2011 in his residence. He was born on February 13, 1924 in Salem a son of the late Laurence Dewey Tim Davis and Edna Grace Zinn Davis.
Surviving are his former wife, Daphne Davis, Indianapolis, IN, one son, Philip L. Davis and wife Nancy, Sharpsburg, GA, two grandchildren, Shawn Davis and wife, Elizabeth, Michelle Klopfer and husband Scott, three great grandchildren, Ronan Davis, Madeline and Ryan Klopfer, five sisters, Glenna VanPelt, Middleburg, FL, Lula Roukema, Pensacola, FL, Carolyn Hutson and husband Dale, Melbourne, FL, Donna Ash, Salem, Daphne Elaine Marks and husband Ronald, Cape Coral, FL, brother-in-law, Clyde Junior Kinney, Salem, two sister-in-laws, Helen Davis, Parkersburg, Peggy Denham, Salem, several nieces and nephews. Two sisters, Juanema Kinney, DeVera Sutton, two brothers, Robert and Edsel Davis preceded him in death.
Mr. Davis was a retired salesman and had formerly attended the Seventh Day Baptist Church, Salem. Carlton was a U.S. Army veteran serving in WWII. He was a member of Post #3081 VFW Grafton, and had served as past President of the Taylor County Sheltered Workshop, and past President of Taylor County Chamber of Commerce. He was also a member of Clarksburg Lodge #482 BPOE.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at 11:00AM with Pastor Dale Thorngate presiding. Interment will follow in the W.V. National Cemetery, Pruntytown. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Monday, December 26, 2011 from 2-8PM and after 9AM on Tuesday until time of service. Full Military Honors will be accorded by the Taylor County Honor Guard.
