Carroll Eugene Gene Cottrill, 85, of Salem departed this life on Friday, November 19, 2010 in his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 23, 1924 in Salem a son of the late Raymond and Martha Ann Davis Cottrill. His wife, Ellen J. Hayes Cottrill preceded him in death on December 30, 1995.
He is survived by five daughters, Barbara Utter and husband Jim, Morgantown, Regina Gain and husband Dwight, Salem, Rita Mae Law and husband John, (Long Run) Salem, Judy Eddy and husband Knuck, Salem, Janet Layfield and husband Greg, Salem, three sons, Donald Cottrill, Shinnston, Ronnie Burbridge and wife Kay Salem, Jimmy Burbridge and wife Brenda, Fairmont, 19 grandchildren, 33 great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, one daughter-in-law, Marsha Cottrill, two sisters, Bonnie Ross, Weirton, Susie Woodson, Salem, one brother, William (Billie) Cottrill, Reader. Two sons Roger Cottrill and Robert Burbridge, three sisters, and three brothers preceded him in death.
Mr. Cottrill retired as a trackman for CSX Railroad with 35 years service. He was a loving father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 21,2010 at 2PM in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem with Pastor Roger Fontaine presiding. Interment will follow in the K. of P. Memorial Park, Salem. Family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, November 20,2010 from 3-8PM and after 10AM on Sunday until time of service.
