Charles Wellington Reed

Charles Wellington Reed, 96, of Mechanicsburg, PA, previously of Salem, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at The Bridges at Bent Creek Nursing Facility in Mechanicsburg, PA.  He was born on June 4, 1928 in Salem, WV a son of the late Cecil G. and Charlotte Davis Reed.

Charles graduated from Salem High School. He served his country in the United States Army serving in WWII and the Korean War. Charles retired from Equitable Life Insurance Company. He was a member of the Salem Baptist Church and the Lake Floyd Golf Club. He enjoyed playing golf and spending time with his family.

Charles is survived by his one son, David Reed and spouse Kam of Mechanicsburg, PA; grandchildren, Jonathan Reed and spouse Emily of Camp Hill, PA, Heather Ruesch and spouse Gary of Pine Brook, NJ, and Mandi Kauffman and spouse Robert of New Cumberland, PA; seven great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Charles was also preceded in death by his wife, Dorthea Reed on October 15, 2011; one son, John B. Reed; siblings, Dorothy Holtz, William Reed, Denver Reed, and Robert Reed.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home in Salem, WV, on, Saturday, November 9, 2024 from 12noon until the time of the funeral service at 2:00pm with Pastor Will Kniceley officiating. Internment will follow at K of P cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the United States Army and the Local Honor Guard.
