Charlotte Sue (Greathouse) Spicer, 79, of Salem, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at her residence, surrounded by the love and presence of her family. She was born October 22, 1946, in Salem, Doddridge County, the daughter of the late Fillmore and Maxidina Idona Ford Greathouse.
A proud graduate of Salem High School, Class of 1964, Charlotte devoted her life to caring for others. She was a lifelong caregiver whose compassion touched countless lives, and she opened her heart and home as a foster parent for many years. Charlotte had a gentle spirit and a joyful appreciation for simple pleasures—she loved collecting frogs and strawberries, spending time with those she loved, and listening to music that brought back sweet memories.
Charlotte is survived by her children, Kimberly Hefner (Shaun Walcutt) of Parkersburg and Michael Ritter (Leigh Ann) of Clarksburg; her foster son, Robbie Reese of Salem; and four cherished grandchildren: Travis Sexton, Amanda Heisler (Christopher), Jeremiah Ritter (Ashley), and Madeline Ritter (Eli Kyle); five great grandchildren: Ayden, Donovan, Harper, Liam and Ronan. She also leaves behind her brothers, Roger Greathouse (Pam) of Roanoke, VA, and Boyd Greathouse (Judy) of Salem, along with several nieces and nephews who loved her dearly.
In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Wayne Spicer. Their reunion in eternal peace brings comfort to those who mourn her loss.
Family and friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home–Salem on Sunday, November 30, 2025, from 12:00 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 4:00 PM.
