Clyde “Junior” Maxwell Ford, 89, of Big Flint Community, Salem, graduated to the Big Reunion in Heaven on August 2, 2023. He was born January 5, 1934 in Big Flint, son of the late Clyde Maxwell and Mamie Bland Ford.
Junior is survived by his three children, Jennifer L Ford, Salem, Chesna A Menear and husband James “Jim” Pennsboro, and Clyde Maxwell Ford III and wife Kimberly, West Union; daughter-in-law, Tammy Ford, Salem; seven grandchildren, Scott Ford, Dr. Michael Menear and wife Dr. Whitney, Zach Clutter and wife Chelsey, Brandon Ford, Cory Ford, James Menear and wife Sarah, and Aubree Ford; twelve great grandchildren, Braydon, Kamden, Brendan, Audrey, Caroline, Anastazia, McKenzie, Brittany, Brandy, Amanda, John, and Keegan; several great great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Junior is preceded in death by his wife Beatrice Lee Cottrill Ford on December 14, 2014; one son, Marvin Lee Ford on March 25, 2020; siblings, Marguerite Long and husband Thurman, Rolly Ford and wife Edie, Gencil Ford and Grace, Glenna Davis and husband Rancil, Maynard Ford, Doyle Ford, Sheridan Ford, Bernadine Bellotte and husband Dominic, Rhea Howell and husband Buck and Viola DeFrances and husband John.
Junior graduated from Doddridge County High School, Class of 1952, He served his country in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany where he was also in the Army Choir. He retired from the WV Department of Highways as a weigh master with over thirty years of service. He was a member of Evergreen United Methodist Church on Big Flint where he was an adult Sunday school teacher and lay speaker. Junior was a pianist for several gospel groups and piano player for his home church. With seventeen years of making Apple Butter at the Apple Butter Festival where he won numerous Blue Ribbons where he met a lot of great people and never met a stranger. His hobbies were his garden, his flowers and his chickens. He loved spending time with his family and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, brother, uncle that his family will truly miss.
Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home - Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Saturday, August 5, 2023 from 2-6PM. Funeral Service will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Evergreen United Methodist Church, at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jason Balis officiating. He will lie in repose one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Keys Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and the US Army Honor Guard.
