Lt. Col. Ret. Roland W. Stephenson Jr. 84 of Rt. 23 Salem (Big Run) went home to be with his Lord on Friday, December 11, 2009.

He was born on November 8, 1925 in Portsmouth, VA, a son of the late Roland Weymouth Stephenson Sr. and Ada Tew Stephenson. His wife Margaret Kearns Stephenson survives.

Also surviving are five sons, Roland R. Stephenson, Colorado Springs, CO, Mark Stephenson, Wake Forest, N.C., William Stephenson and wife Debbie, Carrsville, VA, David Stephenson, Shinnston, Robert Stephenson and wife Angie, Salem, (Big Run), five grandchildren and two great grandchildren, one sister, Eloise Brown, Boca Raton, FL. One sister Edith Parker preceded him in death.

Lt. Col. Stephenson was retired from the U.S. Air Force with 21 years service. He enjoyed woodworking, model trains and spending time with his family. Roland was Baptist. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.

Private graveside services will be held in the Chapel of Peace Mausoleum, Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Quiet Dell, with Pastor Robert Marino officiating. Harrison County Honor Guard will accord full Military graveside honors. On line condolences may be offered to the family at www.harbertfuneralhome.com.
