Cynthia “Cindy” Jean Hnotkow, 56, of Salem, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, leaving behind cherished memories in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Born on August 28, 1969, in Sussex, NY, she was the beloved daughter of Muriel Eleanor VanBuren Hnotkow of Salem and the late Walter John Hnotkow.
In addition to her mother, Cindy is survived by several close friends and adopted family.
Cindy was a proud graduate of Doddridge County High School. She brought her warm smile and friendly spirit to her work at A.C. Moore and Gabe’s, spreading joy to coworkers and customers alike. Later, she spent more than a decade serving her community as a bank teller at West Union Bank, where her kindness and welcoming nature left a lasting impression.
A true nurturing soul, Cindy loved caring for children and spent countless hours babysitting many little ones, treating each as if they were her own. She adored crafting, cooking, and going to concerts, always embracing life with laughter and joy. Her vibrant personality made her the life of every gathering, and her kindness and love left a lasting mark on everyone she met.
Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Cindy’s life at Davis Funeral Home – Salem, 1999 W Main Street, Salem, WV, where visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 from 4:00 PM until 6:30 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 6:30 PM, officiated by Pastor Bob Marino.
