Danette Clevenger Obituary

Danette Ann Clevenger, 77 of Salem passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024 at United Hospital Center with family by her side. She was born April 27, 1947 in Clarksburg, daughter of the late Howard and Maxine Tresize Romine. Danette graduated from Bristol High School, Class of 1965. She worked at Woodruffs Drug Store and Moore’s Restaurant both in Salem.  She enjoyed gardening, growing plants, living in Texas for several years and spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren. She was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Danette was a very strong, feisty, and independent woman that worked hard to raise her children. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oren Butch Clevenger on August 20, 1971 and she married on April 11, 1971. Danette is survived by her daughter, April Nenette Clevenger and companion Ron Steele, Salem; five grandchildren, Samantha (Leroy), Sabree, Kane,  Ryder, and Jasmine; seven great grandchildren, Adrianna, Ayden, Trinity, John, Jhaelana, Paisley, and Talitha; daughter-in-law, Susan Tartaglia; one sister, Jeanie Clevenger (Mike), Steubenville, OH; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Danette was preceded in death by her son, Howard Lee Clevenger; two grandsons, Damien and Kristian; two sisters, Linda “Susie” Barker and Melody Romine.
