Dannie Ray Brown

Dannie Ray Brown, 82, of West Union, passed away on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at Tygart Center in Fairmont. His passing leaves a quiet space in the lives of those who knew and loved him—a space once filled with steady hands, constant motion, and a heart devoted to family.

Born on October 4, 1943, in Brownton, West Virginia, Dannie was the son of the late William Chester and Mary Virginia Cavalier Brown. From a young age, he learned the value of hard work, a lesson he carried throughout his life.

After retiring from Merrick Engineering in Bridgeport, Dannie remained just as busy as ever. He loved working with his hands and was happiest when he had a project underway. Whether tending his garden or working on cars, he found joy and purpose in staying active and productive. To Dannie, fixing things wasn’t just a hobby—it was a way of showing care and pride in the life he built.

Dannie was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife, Jacquelyn “Jackie” Christine McKinney Brown; his son, Dan Brown (Lorretta); several cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings, Cheryl Chilcote, Virginia Farris, and Donnie Brown; and many nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

In addition to his parents, Dannie was preceded in death by his son, Donald Brown; and his siblings, William “Bud” Brown, Charles “Hop” Brown, Paul Brown, Larry Brown, and Irene Rugza. While their loss was deeply felt, his family takes comfort in knowing he is reunited with those who went before him.

Dannie’s family also finds peace in knowing that his wish for cremation is being honored by Davis Funeral Home – Salem.
