SALEM Darrel J. Buck Hickman, 84, of Rt. 3, Salem, W.Va. passed away on Monday, May 19, 2008, in the United Hospital Center.
He was born in Salem on February 9, 1924, a son of the late Ralph and Audra Nutter Hickman.
On October 6, 1945, he married Marjorie A. King Hickman, who preceded him in death on August 24, 2004.
Surviving are one daughter, Sandra Jean Carey and husband, Paul, of Seabrook, NH; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Three brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
Darrel was retired from Continental Can Company, working in the print and engraving department. He was a Navy veteran of World War II serving in the Albacore and Sea Poachers. Darrel was a member of Big Isaac United Methodist Church, Big Isaac.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 22, 2008, at 2 p.m. at the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main Street, Salem, W.Va. with Rev. Lillian Simmons officiating. Friends may call on Wednesday, May 21, 2008, in the funeral home chapel from 4-8 p.m. and after 9 a.m. on Thursday until the time of service. Interment will be in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery, Doddridge County, W.Va. Combined Veteran Organizations will accord full military graveside rites.
