David Lee Anderson, 69, of Salem passed away on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at United Hospital Center with family by his side. He was born on October 10, 1955 in Charleston Memorial Hospital, first born and son of the late Donald Lee and Edwina Eleanor Drake Anderson.
David graduated from Herbert Hoover High School, Class of 1974. He worked in the Gas & Oil industry with several companies such as Emergent Energy, Pro-Active Services, and Antero Resources and was known as “The Dehy Man” before retiring into the hardware business at Ace Hardware in Salem where he would found himself on being “the helpful hardware man” always smiling and ready to chat with the customers. His hobbies were NASCAR, Dale Earnhardt fan, die hard Dallas Cowboys fan, also fan of the Dodge trucks, and a true and dedicated family man; His German Shepherd buddy “Rowdy” whom he adored and adopted upon the passing of his brother-in-law. He loved his usual two trips a year to the Outer Banks and keeping company with Ronnie and Rita Payne before becoming ill. He enjoyed camping and boating. He had a dock at the Tygart Lake Marina where he could go about every Saturday and Sunday and pontoon with friends and family. He loved people and rarely met a stranger.
David is survived by his wife Virginia “Kathi” Rogers Anderson, whom he married on October 29, 2009; children, Sarah Ann Bird (Bobby) Clendenin, Matthew David Anderson (Brea), Bomont, Shannon L Riegel, Mannington, Shellie Oldaker (Donnie) Shinnston; several grandchildren; siblings, Daniel Anderson (Tammy) Clendenin, Rebecca Douglas (James), Clendenin, Valerie Hammes (Todd) Clendenin; brother-in-law, Jason Fittro (April), Rachel; mother-in-law, Carol S Fittro, Shinnston; father-in-law, Robert B Rogers, Webster Springs; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Andrea McClure “Ann” Anderson; brother-in-law and best friend, Mike Rogers; step father-in-law, Dorsey Fittro.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home - Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 from 1:00pm-7:00pm and on Thursday, January 2, 2025 from 9:00am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00am with Pastor Robert L Shingleton officiating.
