David Lawrence Wilson, 88, of Salem, WV passed away at Stonerise of Clarksburg on Friday, July 16, 2021. He was born on August 12, 1932 in Sand Fork, WV the son of the late Lawrence Earl and Mabel Clayton Wilson. Mr. Wilson married his late wife Jean L. LaZear Wilson on August 30, 1952.
Mr. Wilson graduated from Mannington High School and Salem College and served in the US Navy. He was superintendent for the Waynesburg, PA division of Equitable Gas Company and also was the owner of Town and Country Hardware in Salem for many years. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, Waynesburg VFW Post 4793 and the Sperry-Davis VFW Post 9151, as well as a member of Friendship Lodge No. 56, A.F.& A.M., West Union. He was an avid sportsman, hunter, and golf enthusiast.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his five children, David E. Wilson (Cathie), Atlanta, GA, Deborah Susan Gacek, Waynesburg, PA, Timothy L. Wilson (Donna), Clarksburg, WV, Carolyn J. Carlson (Theodore), Lancaster, PA, and Christopher A. Wilson, Salem, WV; eleven grandchildren; six great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, June Wilson, and siblings, Richard and Joseph Wilson and Margaret Horton.
