David Paul Phillips

David Paul Phillips, 69 of Salem passed away peacefully at the Veterans Administration Hospital, September 23, 2025. He was born on April 13, 1956 in Michigan, son of the late Jesse James Phillips and Clarissa Phillips. David enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping with his brother “Buddy” and his grandchildren Dante, Justice and Gage. He loved spending time with his family camping and going to the mountains. David was a veteran of the United States Army, he worked at Glaspell Lumber for several years and ended his work career with Hall Drilling before retirement, he was a member of Mt Hebron Baptist Church. David is survived by wife of 22 years Sandra Shaffer, four children, Debra Sue Posey, Katherine Huffman, Jessica Knotts, Mary Elder; three step children; Daniel Lee Shaffer, Billy Shaffer and Miranda Brown, Lisa Michelle Shaffer; thirteen grandchildren; Tyler and Tanner Gifford, Bethany Curtis, Cayla Roberts, Samuel Burrows,Victoria Gifford,Morgan Gifford, Kaitlyn Gifford, Nora Huffman, Cody Elder, Sierra Elder, Eli Knotts, Leah Knotts; five step-grandchildren;  Ashton Shaffer, Destiny Lambert, Dante Shaffer, Gage Shaffer, Justice Leah Shaffer; ten great grandchildren; Kamden, Kendric and Kash Curtis, Carson and Malachi Roberts, LakeLynn Gifford, Tinsley and Fletcher Elder, Braelyn Gifford and Djamal Temple; two step-great grandchildren; three siblings, Patricia “Patsy” Henderson, Annette “Jessie” Adams, Hansel Phillips.
