Delbert Ray Ash, 90, of Salem, passed away on Wednesday, February 12th. He was born November 26, 1934, son to the late Ray and Delsie Ash. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, JoAnn Ashcraft and the mother of his sons, Grace Rupert. Delbert is survived by his wife of 40 years, Ellen Lurae Ash; his three sons, Galen 'Grumpy' Ash and wife Becky of Salem, Kevin Ash and wife Trina of Salem, and Victor Ash and wife Penny of Salem; two stepsons, Gordon Edgell and wife Kerry of Salem and David Edgell and wife Regina of Wallace; eight grandchildren, Traci Davis (Brent), Curtis Ash (Shaylyn), Justin Ash (Ashley), Cody Ash (Shala), Stephanie Forinash, Troy Edgell (Morgan), Samantha Edgell (Adam), and Eme Holt (Aaron); twelve great-grandchildren, Josie, Easton, Bowen, Jaxon, Carder, Raelee, Bridon, Caden, Madalynn, Waylon, Amelia, and Porter. Delbert retired after 30 years employment in the glass factory industry and served in the United States Army from 1957-1959. He greatly enjoyed the outdoors and could be seen riding his tractor or side-by-side in sun, rain or snow. An avid fisherman and hunter. Delbert enjoyed looking at his trail camera pictures and telling stories. He will be known by all who loved him as the great coon hunter and catfish slayer. Delbert discovered faith later in life and was a member of the Victory Baptist Church. Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home - Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Saturday, February 15, 2025 from 4:00PM-7:00PM and on Sunday, February 16, 2025 from 12:00 Noon until the time of the funeral service at 2:00pm with Reverend Trevor Pullen officiating. Interment will follow at the Coleman-Freeman Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations to Victory Baptist Church, 664 Salem Long Run West Union WV 26456.
