Dixie L. Spencer, 47, of West Union departed this life on Monday, September 3, 2012. She was born on April 11, 1965 in Parkersburg a daughter of Ray and Coral Harden McCullough, Pennsboro. On June 28, 1986 she married Frederick A. Spencer III who passed away on September 3, 2012.
Surviving are one daughter, Elisabeth Spencer, West Union, two sons, Ian and Joseph Spencer, West Union, and two brothers, Dennis and Dean McCullough, Pennsboro.
Dixie graduated from Pennsboro High School and obtained a Bachelors degree in Biology Secondary Education and a Masters degree in Educational Technology from Salem College. She was a science teacher at Ritchie County Middle School. Dixie was very active in 4-H and was an avid reader. Dixie was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Church where she was very active. She was often called upon to organize events and activities.
A memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, September 8, 2012 at 2:00PM in the T. Edward Davis gymnasium on the campus of Salem International University with Pastor Dale Thorngate and Pastor Brent Hannah presiding. A time of gathering will be held two hours prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Spencer Family Fund C/O Cornerstone Bank, West Union, Salem or Pennsboro where an account has been established.
