Reverend Don Edward Flanigan, 84 of Tarklin Rd. Salem departed this life on Tuesday, January 12, 2016 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on June 19, 1931 in Harrison County a son of the late Walter S. Flanigan Sr. and Wilma Genevieve Burr Flanigan. He was preceded in death by his wife Patricia Marie Currey Flanigan.
Surviving are two sons, Don Roger Flanigan, Salem, Charles Mitchell Flanigan and wife Marilyn, Salem, 4 grandchildren, Michael Flanigan and wife Amanda, Dereck Flanigan, Donielle Miker and husband Eric. Shannon Flanigan, two step-grandchildren, Joshua and Erica Walls, 4 great grandchildren, Lorelia and River Miker, Tucker Walls and Raven Flanigan, two sisters, Jeri Stover and husband Charlie, Salem, Katy Lou Stalnaker, Weston, one brother, Walter S. Flanigan Jr. and wife Roberta, West Milford, several nieces and nephews. One sister, Betty Sue Burr preceded him in death.
Don was retired from Carnation Milk Plant and Ingersoll Rand Corp. He had served many churches as a Baptist Minister for 48 years. Don was a member of Welcome Baptist Church and had served as their pastor for many years. He was a member of Friendship Lodge #56 AF & AM West Union for over 58 years. Don was a loving father, grandfather, brother and a friend to all and will be sadly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 11:00AM with Rev. Robert Perine officiating. Interment will follow in the Center Point Christian Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 2-8PM Friday, January 15, 2016. and 9-11AM Saturday, January 16, 2016. Harbert Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Flanigan family.
