Donald Dale Underwood, 76, of Big Battle Community departed this life on July 21, 2026 after a brief illness at his residence surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Clarksburg, WV on January 23, 1950 to the late Herald and Irene Greathouse Underwood.
Surviving are sons, Justin (Mercy) Underwood of Salem, WV and Stephen (Alana) Kaiserling of Jacksonville, FL, daughter, Ashley (Don) Skiles of Hernando, FL, Son-n-law Tony Meher, Willow Springs, MO. Grandchildren Quinntin, Montanna, Rebecca Underwood, Michael (Rachel) Underwood, Maryna, Austin (Ariel) Meher, Sarah and Nathaniel Kaiserling, seven great grandchildren, brothers, Dee, East Liverpool, OH, Stanley (Audrey), Pittsburgh, PA, Tom (Diane) Smithville, OH, Pig (Jene), Mike (Barb), Randy (Anita) of Salem, WV, and numerous nieces and nephews who love him dearly.
He was preceded in death by three children, Charles, Kristal, and Brandon, two brothers, Denny and Bud Underwood and his only sister, Charlene Fisher Underwood.
Donnie was employed and worked as owner/operator for multiple businesses in the oil and gas industry. Donnie was an avid horseback rider, “The Legends” Brother Euchre player, deer hunter, and the master morel mushroom hunter. Donnie was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle and will be sorely missed by his family and friends.
Family and friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home–Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Thursday, July 30, 2026, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and the family will receive family and friends immediately following the viewing at the home of Dave and Lilly Wine Swallop on Stage Coach Road, Salem, WV and viewing on Friday, July 31, 2026 from 9:00 am until the time of the Funeral services in the Chapel of Davis Funeral Home–Salem, at 11:00 AM, with Dr. Dexter Underwood officiating. Interment will follow at Center Point Cemetery where military honors will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and US Navy Honor Guard.
