Obituary
Dortha Lee Chipps, 86, of Salem passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023 at her residence. She was born February 22, 1937 in Salem, WV, daughter of the late Cecil Lee Evans and Clarice Velma Pratt Evans Utter.
Dortha is survived by her two children, Rebecca “Becky” Murphy and Joyce Chipps both of Salem; five grandchildren, Mahalia and husband Bobby, Amanda and husband Scott, Stephanie and husband Michael, Kayla and Mason; several great grandchildren, two siblings, Jean Davis of Salem and Carlton Utter of Big Flint, one great-great grandson, along with several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Dortha is preceded in death by her husband Hayward Alden Chipps; son Randall Lee Evans; grandchild, Randall Lee Evans Jr., brothers and sisters, Vaughn Evans, Mary June Shrader, Bill Evans, Joan Blake, Brian and Ronnie Utter.
Dortha was a homemaker and found much joy in raising her children and grandchildren.
Per her wishes, she will be cremated.
