Dorthea H. Reed, 83, of Salem went to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 15, 2011 following an extended illness. She was born October 21, 1927 in Salem a daughter of the late Kenneth and Helen Randolph Bailey.
Surviving are her husband Charles W. Reed, Salem, one son and daughter-n-law, David and Kam Reed, Mechanicburg, Pa, three grandchildren, Jonathan Reed, Heather Ruesch, and Mandi Kauffman and one great granddaughter, Charity Kauffman. She was preceded in death by a son John B. Reed and a sister, Emma Ann Davis.
Dorothy was a member of the Salem Baptist Church for over 70 years and was a member of the Woofter-Broadwater Sunday School Class. She was a member of the church choir for over 60 years and sang at numerous funerals. She was a graduate of Salem High School.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at 1PM in the Salem Baptist Church with Reverend Charles Warger presiding. Mrs. Reed will lie in state from 12Noon until time of service in the Salem Baptist Church. Interment will follow in the K. of P. Memorial Park, Salem. The family will receive friends from 2-8PM in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Harrison County Cancer Society.
