Salem-Edward Freeman Underwood, 83 of Painesville, OH went home to be with the Lord on November 29, 2011 in the Tripoint Medical Center. He was born on June 19, 1928 at Morgansville a son of the late Gloah Evert and Icie Orr Underwood. On June 11, 1951 he married his loving wife Augustine Yeater Underwood who survives.
Surviving are one son, Bryce Underwood and wife Lisa, Mentor, OH, grandsons, Eric and Timothy Underwood, brothers, Harold Underwood and wife Janette, Lester Underwood and wife Ruth, Leon Underwood and wife Barb, all of Painesville, OH, sisters, Betty Brookover and husband Chester, Pauletta Bonnell and husband Bill both of WV, several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Mae, Judy and Katherine.
Mr. Underwood left WV in 1947 and was a resident of Painesville for many years. He worked for ICR Fibers for 25 years and had worked for Caterpillar Inc. of Mentor, OH as a mechanic. Edward was a member of East Heisley Church of God. He enjoyed deer hunting and working on cars. Edward was a loving husband and grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Monday, December 5, 2011 at 1:00PM with Pastor Hank Williams presiding. Interment will follow in the Christian Church Cemetery, Center Point. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Sunday, December 4, 2011 from 4-8 PM and after 9AM on Monday until time of service.
