Edward "Ed" Ash Obituary

Edward Alan Ash - "Ed", 76, of Thomas, WV, passed away from this world on July 2, 2026, surrounded by his family at Davis Medical Center, in Elkins, WV. It is with profound sadness and deep love that we announce this. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew him.

Ed was born on December 12, 1949, in Clarksburg, WV, son of the late Randall B. Ash and the late Joan Stewart. He is survived by his siblings: Kathryn Palmer, "Kathy", Salem, Reva Nine (Luther), Parsons, and Kurt Stewart (Cindy), Enterprise, as well as nieces and nephews: Tonja Pringle (Andy), Karen Ayersman (Lawrence), Heather Tichnell (Sean), and T.J. Stewart (Kelsie). He was also survived by several great nieces and nephews and one great, great niece. Besides his mother and father, he was preceded in death by his brother, John R. Stewart, his brother-in-law, Timothy Palmer and his nephew, David Palmer.

Ed graduated from Bristol High School, Class of 1967, Bristol, WV. He went to WVU Potomac State College, Keyser, WV for 2 years and, then, transferred to WVU where he received the education for his life's career of Dairy Inspector out of Ohio. He lived in Gallipolis, Ohio, and after he retired, was happy to return to his home state of West Virginia. He enjoyed helping the farmers and dealing with the cows and traveling to various farms and locations. After returning to WV, he lived in Thomas and enjoyed volunteering and helping, especially with Bingo, at Cortland Acres Health and Rehab.

Ed was a beacon of strength, generosity, and unwavering kindness. He was a gentle soul and even though soft-spoken, his actions spoke volumes. He lived his life by a simple philosophy: to help anyone in need, without expectation of recognition or reward. His selflessness knew no bounds and everyone who knew him was blessed to experience his warm, welcoming presence. He leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion and will be forever deeply missed.

Upon his request, he will be cremated with Davis Funeral Home - Salem handling the arrangements. A special family only memorial service will be held at a later time.
