The family of Elizabeth “Betty” Givens Davis (83) of Salem would like to invite you to join in the celebration of the best day of her life. On June 8, 2021, Betty saw her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ face to face and was welcomed into the joy of her salvation. She was greeted by her family members who preceded her in eternal life in heaven; her grandparents Rev. and Mrs. Oathie Givens, her parents Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Givens, her sisters Virginia Givens Hayes and Roberta Givens, her nephew Raymond Lee Hayes, her in-laws Mr. and Mrs. Edgar F. Davis, and many relatives including her dear aunt Roxie Dale Givens. Betty was born in Salem, WV March 9, 1938. The oldest of four sisters, she enjoyed life on the farm on Patterson Road and the family’s committed involvement in the Mt. Olive Baptist church. She fondly remembered her high school years (1956) and her teachers and fellow classmates at Salem High School. She also attended Salem College. Betty married Richard Allen Davis in 1958 and enjoyed a 63-year adventure of love, life and laughter with him. They lived in 7 states, but she always desired to move “back home to WV.” Betty was a stay-at-home wife who kept her home immaculately clean, decorated with her decoupage and woven wall hangings, and lovingly cooked and baked meals. She was an avid reader who studied the Bible, Christian literature, British history, and decorating magazines. You can be sure there will be blue toile in her heavenly mansion somewhere. Betty was a devoted mother and grandmother who dearly loved her children Dean (Paula) Davis of Loudon Tennessee, and De Ann (Rob) Seckman of Salem West Virginia and her grandchildren Andrea Davis of Birmingham Alabama, Doug Davis of Murfreesboro Tennessee, and Marisa Davis of New York City, with all of her heart. Other family members celebrating the life of Betty are Joe and Pat Neely of New Market, Maryland and family; John and Ramonetta Holt of Salem, and family; Joe and Suzie Davis of Salem, and family; Bob and Mary Davis of Guntersville, Alabama and family; Mary Alice Cox of Salem, and family; and her many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Special thanks to the nurses and staff of Genesis Center of Salem for their kind, patient, and dedicated care of Betty. Davis Funeral Home Salem is honored to serve the Davis Family.
