Virginia Flanagan, 95 of Riverbend Apartments, Clarksburg, formerly of Salem departed this life on Saturday, March 19, 2011 in the United Hospital Center. She was born on April 13, 1915 in Pennsboro the daughter of the late Milton and Emma McCullough Weekley.
Surviving are three sons, John William Flanagan and wife Patti, Fairfield, CA, David Michael Flanagan, Clarksburg, Jerry Lynn Flanagan and wife Patty, Princeton, four grandchildren, David Flanagan and wife Julie, Vacaville, CA, Shawn Flanagan, Birmingham AL, Kelley Flanagan, Charlotte, NC, Andrew Flanagan, Tyler, TX, four great grandchildren, Chris Flanagan, John Flanagan IV, Courtney Flanagan and Haley Flanagan all of California. One grandson, John Flanagan and one brother Harold Weekley preceded her in death.
Mrs. Flanagan graduated from Pennsboro High School in 1933 and attended Salem College. She retired from Monongahela Power Company with 27 years service as a Division Clerk. Virginia was United Methodist. She was an avid reader who especially enjoyed the work of Danielle Steele. Virginia enjoyed doing the daily cryptoquote in the Clarksburg Exponent-Telegram, watching Live with Regis & Kelly each morning at 9 AM and cheering on her Mountaineers. She loved butterflies, flowers, collecting stuffed animals and spending time with her family. Virginia was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St. Salem, on Friday, March 25, 2011 at 1:00 PM with Reverend Clifford Schell presiding. Interment will follow in the Salem I.O.O.F Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Thursday March 24, 2011 from 5-7 PM.
