Main St. Salem departed this life on Saturday, February 15, 2014 in her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on August 27, 1931 in Bristol, a daughter of the late Monroe and Vesta Pearl Dennison Hickman. On October 4, 1953 she married William "Hank" Davis who preceded her in death on January 21, 2006.Surviving is one son, Brian Davis, Cherry Camp, three daughters, Michelle Kelley and husband Brad, Salem, Darla K. Ford and husband Jeff, Buckhannon, Tammy Gillespie and husband Parrish, Bristol, five grandchildren, Megan Lipscomb, Buckhannonn, J.J. Ford, Charleston, Brianna Flanigan, Clarksburg, Kristina Davis, Cherry Camp and Maria Davis, Clarksburg, one brother-in-law, Otis "Jinks" Furbee, Parkersburg, two sisters-in-laws, Edith Davis, Hendersonville, TN and Mitzi Hickman, Glen Burnie, MD, and several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family being preceded in death by infant brother, Carl Hickman, brothers, Monroe Hickman Jr. John Sidney Hickman and Eldon Reed Hickman, sister, Veda C. Davis.Mrs. Davis had worked for Hope Gas Company, she retired from Salem International University as manager of the Food Service Department. She was a 50 year member of Queen Esther Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, a member of Col. Wm Lowther Chapter DAR and the Salem Garden Club. While she was able she enjoyed golfing and having lunch with her friends. Frances was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church.Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 1:00PM with Pastor Kevin Bender presiding. Interment will follow in the Salem I.O.O.F. Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 from 2-8PM and after 9AM on Wednesday until time of service. There will be an Eastern Star Service on Tuesday evening at 7:00PM.The family would to thank People's Hospice and especially Olivia and Jennifer for all their special care and kindness.
