Gertrude Ellen Knight

Gertrude Knight, 92 of Double Camp Rd. Salem departed this life on Monday, February 13, 2017 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on May 3, 1924 at Salem a daughter of the late Orville and Delia Mae Sutton Perine. On May 5, 1993 she was preceded in death by her husband Cecil E. Knight.

Surviving are two daughters, Syonia Marks and husband Leo, Lyndall Dulaney and husband Tommy, two sons, Cecil W. Knight and wife Sharon, Jeffrey D. Knight, all of Salem, grandchildren, Lisa Powell and husband Daniel, Rhonda Travis and husband John, Jennifer Davisson and husband Mike, Michelle Mardos, Stephanie Dulaney and companion Steve, Christa Hunter and husband Brian and Sherri Starcher, great grandchildren, Christina and Sierra Powell, Tyler and Victoria Travis, Taylor Higgs and husband Daniel, Haleigh Mardos, Lindsay Knight, Thomas Madison and Ty Dulaney. Mrs. Knight was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was preceded in death by one grandson, Robert W. Dulaney, three brothers and one sister.

Mrs. Knight enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with her loving family. She especially enjoyed her feline friends, "Honey" & "Puddy". She was Methodist.

Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 1:00PM with Pastor Roger Fontaine presiding. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 5-8PM and after 10AM on Thursday until time of service.
