Gilbert Chipps Obituary

Gilbert Glen Chipps, 84, of Edgewood, KY passed away, May
16, 2015. He was born to Staley and
Texie Chipps, July 7, 1930, in Doddridge County, West Virginia. He
was married to, Mary Virginia Welch, for
51 years before her passing in August 1998.

He is survived by 3
children, Sue Iha and husband Thomas, of Austin, TX
; David Chipps and wife Lucy, of Chagrin Falls, OH and Carol
Willson, of Edgewood, KY

Six grandchildren, Matthew Iha, Jennifer Iha, Christie
Peters & David, Cathy Chipps, Tara Pan & Brian and Kyle Willson. One
Great-grandchild, Maxwell McClain Peters

Glen proudly served in the US Army from 1950-1980, retiring
as Sergeant Major. During this time he
fought in Korea and Vietnam. His army
career led to lots of moves for the family starting in Ft Knox, KY, Hanford
Nuclear Works in Richland WA, Ft Shafter in HI, Cleveland OH, a tour in Viet
Nam, Cincinnati OH, Honolulu HI and finally settling in northern KY.

Glen has a chair on his front porch that he called his "count your
blessing chair" and he
would remind you to spend some time counting your blessings every day and be
thankful for those around you.

Graveside services will be conducted on May 20, 2015 at 11:30AM in Mt. Olive Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors being accorded by the Doddridge County Veterans Organizations. The family will receive friends in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem from 9-11AM on Wednesday, May 20, 2015.
