Gloria Jueen Middleton McDonald, 77, oldest daughter of the late Brooks and Frankie Nicholson Middleton, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 in Morgantown at JW Ruby Hospital. She was born on March 10, 1947 in Salem, and then graduated from James Logan High School in Hayward, CA in 1965, where she resided for a year with her half-brother, Jack Middleton and family.
Gloria married Airman First Class, William H. McDonald, Jr. on September 6, 1966. Bill was sent to Thailand to serve in the Vietnam war soon after their wedding. Gloria attended the Salem College Nursing Program and graduated in 1972 with an LPN degree. She enjoyed her career as an LPN at United Hospital Center.
Bill and Gloria were the parents of two sons, William Brooks McDonald and the late Jackson Lewis McDonald; one granddaughter, Jennifer Whitehair; and three great grandchildren, Landon, Isabella and Adriella.
She was preceded in death by her half siblings, Jackson and Robert Middleton and Helen Middleton Ryan, and brother, Herald Brooks Middleton, Jr.; her in laws, Okey and Annabell Clevenger, and sisters-in-law, Linda Clevenger and Debra Whitehair and brother-in-law, Daniel Rymer.
Gloria is survived by her husband Bill McDonald and son Billy, granddaughter Jennifer and greath grandchildren, Landon, Isabella, and Adriella; her sister Janet Rymer; brother-in-law, Okey Clevenger, and sisters-in-law, Pam Clevenger and Dawn Lowe; and several nieces and nephews.
Gloria was a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church in Salem. She and her husband enjoyed camping and hunting and were members of the Salem Gun and Rifle Club for many years. They also bowled on a league at Compton Bowling Lanes.
