Goldia Farmer Obituary

Goldia Carpenter Farmer, 92 of Bridgeville, PA formerly of Anmoore passed away on November 3, 2008 at the home of her daughter. She was born in Smithburg on March 28, 1916 a daughter of the late Lonnie C. and Dana Bee Carpenter. On December 24, 1941 she married Walter J. Dick Farmer who preceded her in death on December 16, 1994.

Surviving are two daughters, Nancy Chapman and husband Ed, Cecil, PA, Carol J. Blackwell, Bridgeville, PA, one grandson, Chris Chapman and wife Sherry, Morgantown, one granddaughter Katie Fleming and husband Pat, Bethel Park, PA, one great grandson and four great granddaughters, three great great grandsons and one great great granddaughter, three sisters, Jo Pears and husband Colt, Eveline Mader and husband David both of Birmingham, AL, Darlene Boyce, Astor, FL, and several nieces and nephews. Two brothers, James and William Carpenter, two sisters, Louise Westfall, Ruth Bowers preceded her in death.



Mrs. Farmer was retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a Post Master of the Anmoore Post Office with 33 years service. At the age of 11 she joined the Calvary United Methodist church where she had been on the Trustee Board, Pastor Parish Committee, Administrative Board, Nomination Committee, served as Church Treasurer and President of United Methodist Women. Goldia was a Certified Lay Speaker and sang in the church choir and had taught the Nursery Class for 67 years where she impacted many childrens lives. Goldia enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.

Friends may call in the Calvary United Methodist Church 322 S. 22nd St. Clarksburg from 4-8 PM Thursday November 6, 2008 and after 9 AM on Friday, November 7th until time of service. Funeral services will be held in the Calvary United Methodist Church on Friday, November 7, 2008 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Etheldean Yanero and Pastor Olen Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery, Anmoore. Condolences may be offered to the family online at www.harbertfuneralhome.com. Harbert Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Farmer family.
