Harvey Blaine Hughes

Harvey Blaine Hughes, 81 of Salem passed away on Monday, March 28, 2022 at his residence with family by his side.  He was born April 26, 1940 in Salem, son of the late Charles and Eva Mide Stout Burnside Hughes. Harvey served his country and retired with over twenty years serving in the United States Coast Guard and Army during the Vietnam War.  He retired from Consolidate Natural Gas now Dominion Energy. Harvey enjoyed guns, cars, watching westerns on TV, talking on the phone and loved time with family especially the grandchildren.  He is survived by his wife Judith "Judy" E Swisher Hughes whom he married on April 30, 1970; daughters, Eva Paul and husband Shannon, Kingsland, GA, Barbara Anderson and husband David, Hillsboro, WV, Sharon Mullenax and husband Brian, Fairmont, and Jamie Shaw, Salem; grandchildren, Elijah and Emily, Jayden, Liam Blaine, Alec and Mikala,Sarah and Andrew, Brandi and Shane, Lindsey and Seth, Amanda, Ashley and Devin, Robert, Timothy, Kristin and Robert, Erica and Andrew, Carissa and Tyler; great grandchildren, Landon, Kayko, Simon, Aiden, Mason, Rylan, Todd, Everly, Marian, Josh, Lynly, Juniper, Victor  one sister, Oma Ruth McLane of Eleanor, WV; his dog Emma; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Harvey was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.  His wishes for cremation will be honored.
