Helen Davis Obituary

Helen Davis, of Bristol, a spirited soul and beloved family member, passed away peacefully on October 28th, 2024 at the age of 88. Helen was the daughter of Bart and Shirley Ash. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Davis and first husband Kiffin McDaniel.  She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Jenetta Howell, grandson Eric Howell, sister Shirley Montour and brother Junior Ash and sister-in-law Sandra Ash.

Helen was known for her spunky personality and an eye for rare dolls and antiques.  She spent many years as the owner of Helen’s Fads and Fashions, where she sold antiques and clothing in the community for over 20 years.  Her shop was more than a business - it was a haven of history, a gathering place for friends and a reflection of her unique spirit.  Helen did countless fashion shows with vintage clothing in area nursing homes and businesses to bring the past back to life.

Helen enjoyed her doll collection and was a member of the Doll Club in Bridgeport for many years.  She and her father as well as her late husband Jim were avid roller skaters.  They frequented area skating rinks where they figure skated with lights on their skates.  Some of you may know her by her CB handle, The Blonde Hurricane, where she often talked to her dad Bart, known as the Mountain Boy. Those were the good old' days we will all cherish.

Family was the heart of Helen’s life.  She cherished every moment spent with her loved ones, whether at family gatherings, holiday celebrations or simply enjoying a meal together.  Her laughter and warmth filled every room, and her home was always open to anyone in need of a friend.

Helen will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, her love of treasures both old and new, and her boundless dedication to those she loved. She is survived by daughter Christy Sturtevant and husband Ben, Bristol, Grandson Benjamin Sturtevant and Fiancé Victoria Harbert of Bristol, granddaughter Alexis Desormier and husband Brandon and great grandson’s Brett and Austin.  She is also survived by Grandson Brian (Amy) Howell, great grandchildren Brennan and Mitchell, Grandson Wesley (Summer) Howell, great grandchildren Jakob and Lily, Granddaughter Tracy (Toby) Rattanabadith and great grandchildren Kara and Maya Canevari, all of North Carolina.  Sister Deborah Ash and companion John Summers, Jarvisville, Brother Wallace (Cathy) Ash of Rock Run in Doddridge and Brother Bill Ash on Halls Run; son-in-law Phil Howell of North Carolina.  She has many nieces and nephews who will greatly miss her.

Her family will carry her legacy of love and resilience forward.  She will be missed, but her memory will remain in the stories she shared, the family she adored and the countless lives she touched.

Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home in Salem, WV, on Friday, November 1st from 3pm-8pm, and Saturday, November 2nd from 10am until time of service at 11am with Pastor Mike Allen presiding.  Interment will follow in Salem IOOF Cemetery, Salem.  Online condolences can be made at www.davisfuneralhomesalemwv.com.
