Imogene Kinney Baker, 88, of Route 2, West Union went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, August 3, 2009 in the home of her son Kenneth surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on April 3, 1921 in Salem a daughter of the late Luther Lawrence and Ethel Nora Hutson. Her first husband Kenneth Kinney preceded her in on February 20, 1981. He second husband Wallace H. Baker survives.
Also surviving is one daughter, Brenda Kinney Cole and husband Robert, China Township, MI, one son Kenneth D. Sonny Kinney Jr. and wife Mary Lou, Salem, one step daughter, Youlanda Jean Baker, West Union, three step sons, Layton Baker and wife Elaine, Clarksburg, Paul Baker and wife Katie, Salem, Allen Baker, Salem, grandchildren, Mary Jo Kinney Carder and husband, Larry, Barbara Kinney Dolly and husband Steve, Beverly Kinney Ruppert and husband Tim, Shelly Cole Humes and husband Scott, Robert Cole and wife Erica, Hollie Cole Blanchard and husband Adam, step grandchildren, Marty Baker and wife Robin, Paula Ash and husband Tim, Michael Baker and wife Kimberly, Rick and wife Amber, Joshua Baker, 27 great grandchildren, one sister, Edna Jean Stinebiser and husband Lester, Salem.
Two daughters, Sheila Kay Moran, Sharon Diana Kinney, two brothers, Lawrence Edward Hutson and Blaine Darrel Hutson and step father, Augustus Bolivar Gus Britton preceded her in death.
Mrs. Baker was retired from the Harrison County Board of Education where she had been a cook at Van Horn Elementary. She loved children and enjoyed quilting, crocheting, and spending time with her family. Mrs. Baker was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, but had attended Evergreen United Methodist Church for the past 14 years. Imogene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, August 6, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem with Pastor John Freeman officiating. Interment will follow in the Masonic Memorial Park, Crystal Lake, West Union. Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, August 5, 2009 from 2-4 & 6-8 PM in the funeral home chapel and after 9AM Thursday until time of service.
