Irene Greer Obituary

Irene Bee Greer, 95, formerly of Valley St., Salem, departed this life on Thursday, August 20, 2015 at The Meadows, Maplewood, Bridgeport. She was born on January 18, 1920, at Wolf Summit, a daughter of the late Oraz and Bessie Wanstreet Bee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Greer, in 1967 and her daughter, Joyce Phillips in 2013.

Surviving are one son Michael D. Greer and wife Marjorie, Bridgeport, one daughter, Janice G. DeWind, Lyons, NY, son-in-law, Ora Phillips, Watertown, NY, grandchildren, Robert (Mary Kay) Greer, Bridgeport, Michael (Sandy) Greer, Buckhannon, Stephen (Laura) Greer, Clemmons, NC, Leslie (Drew) DeWind, Lyons, NY, Lisa (Lance) Daeffler, Macedon, NY, Stephanie (John) Purtell, Stephens City, VA, Kelley (Christopher) Hague, Watertown, NY, Erin King, Watertown, NY, Derek Phillips, Rome, NY, Scott (Erin) Phillips,Syracuse, NY, great grandchildren, Aimee (Dan) Buchanan, Jennifer Greer, Kathryn (Zach) Garrett, Joseph Greer, Christopher Greer, Robert Greer, Jordan Smith, Ryenn Smith, Katie Miley, Leanne (Zach) Bata, Christopher (Leah) Hague, Thomas and Elyse King, Jacob, Abigayle, Shannon and Eli Phillips, Peyton and Camryn Daeffler, Brody and Luke Purtell and Aaron and Ella Greer, great great grandchildren, Rebecca and Brendan Buchanan, Kylee and Conner Morris, Cort Bata, Christopher Hague III, and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers, Harold L., Robert L. and Kenneth R. Bee and one sister, Lucille Cunningham, one son-in-law, James DeWind, and one granddaughter-in-law, Nancy Greer, preceded her in death.

Mrs. Greer was retired from AFG Industries as a Marketing Representative with 29 years' service. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Orpha Chapter #30 Order of Eastern Star, Past District Deputy President Rebecca Lodge. Irene was a past member of Salem International University Auxiliary and had been a Life Member of United Hospital Center Auxiliary for over 38 years. Irene was a member of DAR, BPW ,and Pythian Sisters She was active in the Bristol High School Alumni Association and the Salem Garden Club. Irene was a member of the Salem United Methodist Church where she had been a member of the United Methodist Women and the Church Choir for many years. She sang on the Clarksburg Radio WBLK with "The Three Voices of Harmony".

Funeral services will be conducted in the Salem United Methodist Church, E. Main St. Salem on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at 11:00am with Pastor Kevin Bender officiating. Mrs. Greer will lie in state one hour prior to her service. Interment will follow in the Salem I.O.O.F. Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Monday, August 24, 2015 from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to, Salem United Methodist Church, United Center Hospital Auxiliary or charity of your choice.
