Iva Pearl Smith, 87 of Pittsburgh, Pa departed this life on Monday, November 23, 2015. She was born on July 5, 1928 at Big Isaac, WV a daughter of the late Stephen Mortin and Grace Mae Casey Prunty. On August 10, 1946 she married Carrol R. Smith who preceded her in death.
Surviving are four daughters: Carolyn Darlene Cale with husband Edward from Tacoma, WA, Barbara Mae Terry with husband Ian from Searcy, AR, Nancy Muriel McGrath with husband Michael from Pittsburgh, PA, and Zahra (Debra) Pearl Bijarkhan with husband Ayub from Lawrenceville, GA. There are 11 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters, three brothers, 2 half-brothers and 1 half-sister.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the non-denominational, Church of Christ. She had a great love for music and enjoyed playing the piano. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family.
Funeral services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem on Saturday, November 28, 2015 at 2:00PM with Evangelist R. David Brewer presiding. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, November 28, 2015 after 11AM until time of service. Harbert Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Smith family.
