James E. Davis

James E. Davis, 68 of Salem departed this life on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 in the Salem Care and Rehabilitation Center following an extended illness. He was born on January 31, 1944 a son of the late Stanley and Eula Lough Davis. On April 19, 1986 he married Helen Ash Davis who survives.

Surviving is one brother, Stephen Davis and wife Patty, Ravenswood, one sister, Robin Hersman, Clarksburg, one daughter, Kathleen Flanagan, Doddridge County, one step-daughter, Christine Sturtevant whom he dearly loved and her husband Ben, Bristol. Jim is also survived by two special grandchildren, Alexis and Ben Sturtevant. He is also survived by three step grandchildren, Brian Howell, Tracy Canevari and Wesley Howell all of NC., several great grandchildren, two aunts, Jean Heagie, Clarksburg, Juanita Lough, Salem and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jim was a graduate of Doddridge County High School. He was a heavy equipment operator with Local IUOE 132 with over 35 years service. He was a member of the Salem Rifle Club. Jim was a devoted Christian and was a member of Enon Baptist Church.

Jim enjoyed riding his four wheeler, hunting, camping and spending time with his grandchildren. He will be sadly missed by his wife, family and his dog Angel.

Funeral services will be held in the Harbert Funeral Home 287 W. Main St. Salem on Friday, October 26, 2012 at 11:00AM with Reverend Keith Davis presiding. Interment will follow in the Salem I.O.O.F. Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, October 25, 2012 from 2-8 PM.
