James Howard Starkey Sr. 73 of Salem departed this life on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the residence of his daughter in Weston surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 31, 1939 a son of the late Glen and Sylvia Richards Starkey.
Surviving is two daughters, Melissa Starkey Ash and husband Butch, Weston, Stacy Starkey Gould and husband Steve, Jane Lew, two sons, James H. Starkey Jr. Morgantown, Christopher Ryan Starkey, Craigsville, his former wife, Sandra Marion Starkey, Weston, five grandchildren, Amy E. Starkey, John Strader IV, Alexis Naomi Hines, Sarah and Nicholas Gould, two great grandchildren, Cameron and Elijah Brown, one sister, Patty Harris, Newark, OH, several nieces and nephews. Five brothers, three sisters and one half brother preceded him in death.
Mr. Starkey was retired from Louie Glass as a glass blower with over 50 years in the glass industry. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving in Viet Nam and had earned the honors as a sharp-shooter. Jimmy enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping and all outdoor activities. He was a loving father, grandfather and will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
A memorial services will be conducted in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W. Main St., Salem on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at 6:00PM with Pastor Kenny Lloyd presiding. There will be a time of gathering from 4PM until time of service.
