James Ross Underwood

James Ross "Jim" Underwood, Sr. 71 of Hannibal, OH formerly of Salem departed this life on Saturday, August 27, 2016 in the Genesis Health Care Center, New Martinsville. He was born on September 3, 1944 in Clarksburg a son of the late James Parley and Katherine Delores Sparks Underwood. On April 30, 1978 he married Mildred "Millie" Campbell Underwood who survives.

Also surviving are three daughters, Kellie Carpenter and husband Jack, Clarksburg, Jenny Underwood and Melinda Williams and husband Rodrick, grandchildren, Patience, Ben and Abbie "Peaches" Carpenter, one sister, Frances Isaacs and husband Jerry, Hepzibah, one brother, David Underwood and wife Joyce, Grantsville and several nieces and nephews. Two sons, James Paul and James Ross Underwood Jr. preceded him in death.

Mr. Underwood was retired from ABF Trucking as a truck driver with 13 years service. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran serving in Vietnam. Jim was a past commander of Sperry Davis Post #9151 VFW. He enjoyed hunting and gardening.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 2, 2016 at 3PM in the Sperry Davis Post #9151 Rt. 50 Salem. There will be a time of gathering one hour prior to service. Harbert Funeral Home is privileged to serve the Underwood family.
