James “Jim” Martin Menear, 71, of Big Flint Community, went home to be with the Lord and join the “Big Reunion in Heaven” on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital, surrounded by the love of his family.
Born on February 18, 1955, in Clarksburg, Jim was the son of the late George and Rebecca Bartlett Menear. He lived a life rooted in faith, family, and quiet devotion to the people and things he loved most.
Jim leaves behind a legacy of love in his two sons, Dr. Michael Menear and wife Dr. Whitney of Winchester, VA, and James Menear and wife Sarah of Greenwood. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Brendan and Keegan, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his sister, Arminta Davis and husband Donnie of Bridgeport, along with sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and many nieces and nephews who will forever cherish his memory.
He was reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, Chesna Annette Menear, whom he married on September 4, 1982, and who preceded him in death on March 24, 2025. Jim also joins his parents and his brother, George Menear, in eternal rest.
A graduate of South Harrison High School, Jim dedicated 32 years of hard work to Kroger, where he served in many roles, ending his career as a Vending Distributor. Known for his strong work ethic and attention to detail, Jim took pride in everything he did—especially in caring for his yard and keeping his cars just right.
Jim found happiness in life’s simple pleasures—watching westerns, cheering on WVU alongside his son, and never missing an opportunity to support his grandchildren at their sporting events. His presence in the stands and his quiet encouragement meant the world to them.
Faith was the cornerstone of Jim’s life. He was a deeply committed member of Evergreen Church, faithfully attending prayer meetings and serving as parish president for many years, helping guide and support multiple congregations including Cascara, Smithburg, Emmanuel, and Blandville Churches. His dedication and servant’s heart touched many lives.
Family and friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home - Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Monday, April 13, 2026, from 3–7 PM and again on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM with Pastor Bill Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Keys Cemetery.
