James "Jim" Peter Stewart

James “Jim” Peter Stewart, 83, of Salem passed away on Wednesday, June 19, 2024 at his residence. He was born May 17, 1941 in Woodhall, NY, son of the late Lewis C. and Virginia E. Clark Stewart.

Jim graduated from Northern Potter High School, Class of 1959 and went on to serve his country in the United States Air Force from 1959 to 1963. He retired from CNG Transmission Corp as a gas measurement for thirty-one years. He was a lifetime member of the Salem Riffle and Pistol Club where he served as vice president. He was an avid hunter and sportsman. 

Jim is survived by wife, Donna Faye Benson Stewart; grandson, Cory M. Stewart (Sabrey) Fairfax, VA; one brother, John E. Stewart (Gloria) Rochester, NY; three sisters, Joyce M. Trent, Elkland, PA, Maxine D. King, St. Johnsbury, VT, and Crystal A. Brassington (Steve) Chesapeake, VA; stepsons A.J. Curran (Cheryl), Salem, and children, Logan, Alayna and her son Spencer, and Erin Curran; Jeff Curran (Karen), Hambleton, OH, and children, Alex Stienkamp, Patrick and Sean Curran; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jim is preceded in death by his two children, Melissa R. Bradshaw and Matthew L. Stewart; companion, Carol Lynne Curran.

A Graveside Services will be held at the West Virginia National Cemetery at a later date with full military honors being accorded by the United States Air Force and the Harrison County Honor Guard.
