Jeannette Eloise "Jan" Fowler

Jeannette Eloise "Jan" Fowler (née Patterson), 78, of Salem, West Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home on June 20, 2026, with her beloved husband by her side.

Born on April 20, 1948, in Clarksburg, West Virginia, Jan lived a life rooted in love, resilience, and unwavering devotion to her family and community. Her journey began in the heart of West Virginia, and she remained deeply connected to its people and seasons throughout her life.

Jan worked at the Anchor Hocking Glass Factory for several years, where she met the love of her life, Arnold "Luke" Fowler. Their bond became the foundation of a large and loving family. Later, she continued her career at Salem IGA, where she worked for 30 years before retiring in 2015. Her dedication to her work was matched only by her warmth toward those around her.

She is survived by her beloved husband, Luke Fowler, and their five daughters: Kimberly Dawn Clutter Ford (Clyde) of West Union; Constance "Connie" Nancy Clutter Nicholson (Derrick) of Salem; Angela "Angie" Beth Fowler Garcia (Joe) of California; Suzanna Kay Fowler of Salem; and Leeanna Mae Fowler of Salem.

Jan's legacy continues through her 14 grandchildren: Scott Ford; Marcus "Zach" Clutter (Chelsey); Cory Ford; Brandon Ford; Gary Titus; Megan Titus Phillips (Will); Luke Fowler; Anthony Hickman; Zoey Garcia; Lenzie Fowler Powell (Jonathan); BellaMaria Loretta; Bryant Flanagan; Taylor Flanagan; and Isaiah Flanagan.

She was also blessed with 20 great-grandchildren: Braydon Ford; Audrey and Caroline Clutter; Kamden, Anastazia, McKenzi, and Evie Ford; Camdan and Maelynn Nicholson; Nathaniel Titus and Avery Phillips; Emily and Liam Fowler; Lincoln and Alaina Powell; Aria; and Joseph, Bradlee, Paislee, and Sawyer Miri.

Jan is also survived by her sister—Deborah "Debbie” whom she met, and two sisters, Billie, and Renee—and one brother, Edward, all of whom she would have loved to have met. Her circle of love extended beyond family to include two lifelong friends who held a special place in her heart, Annette "Sis" Currey and Mike Davis.

She was preceded in death by her father and mother, her biological parents, one sister, two brothers, and one great-grandchild, William.

Jan found joy in life's simple pleasures—feeding birds outside her window, playing with her beloved cats who brought daily companionship and laughter, watching the leaves turn brilliant colors each fall, and marveling at the quiet beauty of winter snowfalls. Above all else, she cherished time spent with her family.

Known for being kind-hearted yet strong-willed, Jan had a sense of humor that could light up a room. She welcomed everyone with open arms, whether they needed a grandmother figure or simply a friend, and she made each person feel seen and loved.

Her memory will live on through the countless lives she touched with compassion and grace. May those who knew her find comfort in remembering the warmth she shared so freely.

Family and friends will be received at Davis Funeral Home – Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, WV, on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, from 3:00 -7:00 p.m. Per her request she will be cremated.
