Jerry Eugene Braun, 79, of Center Point, WV, went to be with the Lord on Monday, May 1, 2023 at the Cleveland Clinic. Jerry was born in Wheeling, WV on April 13, 1944; the son of the late Edman Everett Braun and Evelyn Mae (Sandreth) Braun. On August 25, 1990 he married Lois Jean (Swiger) Braun of Center Point, WV who preceded him in death on April 1, 2017.Jerry is survived by his partner, Maggie Dragert; daughters, Heidi Parton and her husband, Danny of Sevierville, TN, Jennifer Braun and husband, John Stearn of Pittsburgh, PA and Cheryl Braun of Follansbee, WV; four grandchildren, Ashley, Brittany, Aiden, and Payton; bonus grandson, Louis; and one great grandson; a brother, Richard Braun and his wife, Brenda of Fayetteville, NC; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Jerry is preceded in death by three brothers, Edman, Robert and David Braun. Jerry graduated from Wellsburg High School Class of 1962. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1966 where he served his country at Fort Benny and Fort Gordon, Georgia. Jerry finished active duty at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri as a Military Policeman in December 1968. Jerry was a deacon and member of the Pleasant Baptist Church in Center Point, WV. He was employed by the Wheeling Downs Race Track, Power Plant, Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel, Koppers Chemical Plant, and Sears Roebuck Company. After active military duty, Jerry joined the WV State Police, retiring in 1992 after 25 years of service with the rank of Sergeant. Jerry served at Morgantown, Paden City, Clarksburg, Bridgeport, and Shinnston, WV. In 1986, Jerry and Lois built, owned and operated the Rt. 23 Country Store in Center Point, WV for 20 years. They both operated a small farm in Center Point, raising Black Angus, Belted Galloway cows, and calves sold for beef. Until his death, he and Maggie were active with the farm. They also enjoyed going to Quebec, Canada, where he bought a small cottage on an island and enjoyed walleye fishing. Jerry was a member of the Masonic Lodge 63 of Bridgeport, WV since 1979, All Retired State Police Association, Nemesis Shriners of Parkersburg, WV, Life member of Disabled American Veterans, American Association of State Troopers and a life member of the All State Police VFW. Family will receive friends at Davis Funeral Home - Salem, 1999 W. Main Street, Salem, on Sunday, May 7, 2023 from 12:00 Noon-4:00pm. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, May 8, 2023 at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery where full military honors will be accorded by the Harrison County Honor Guard and the United States Army.
