Jessie Nicholas, 67, of Salem went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 5, 2009 in her residence surrounded by her loving family and best friend. She was born on June 20, 1941 in Doddridge County a daughter of the late Cecil and Garnet Knight Shaffer.
Surviving is her ex-husband, Clavis Stoke Nicholas, Salem, two sons, Anthony Tony Nicholas and wife Veronica, Salem, Mike Nicholas, Salem, three daughters, Carol Davis and husband, Greg, Salem, Lora Marks, Bridgeport, Misty Davis and husband Wayne, Greenwood, seven grandchildren, Benjamin and Kristi Nicholas, Chad Keigley, Cory and Ashley Davis, Hunter Marks and Haley Davis, three great grandchildren, seven sisters, Betti Robinson, Weirton, Shirley Davis, Big Isaac, Jackie Strother, Clarksburg, Judy Wilson, Salem, Charlotte Johnson, Warren, OH, Retha Jolley, Salem, four brothers, Ronald Shaffer, Jarvisville, Randall Shaffer, Kincheloe, Terry Shaffer, Salem, Kenny Shaffer, Hepzibah and several nieces and nephews.
Ms. Nicholas enjoyed country music, playing guitar, working in her flower gardens, reading, working puzzles, and spending time with her family. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be sadly missed by her family and friends. The family wishes to give thanks to Peoples Hospice, Liz Pigg and Sherry Ash for their wonderful care.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at 1:00 PM in the Harbert Funeral Home, 287 W, Main St., Salem with Pastor Peggy Williams presiding. Interment will follow in the Big Isaac Cemetery. Family and friends will be received in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, April 7, 2009 from 2-8PM and after 9AM on Wednesday until time of service.
